Care2Serve is the statewide voice for family carers, representing and providing support to carers in Tasmania.

Carers provide or have provided unpaid care and support to family members or friends who are living with a disability, mental illness, chronic condition or terminal illness, or who are frail or aged. Care2Serve provides advice, information, referral, education, and emotional and social support to Carers across the state.

Care2Serve has a specific peer led support group run for the LGBTIQ+ community in Hobart. We have information on our website, and include stories from LGBTIQ+ carers in our magazine where possible. People in caring roles who are LGBTIQ+ are welcome to share information with us regarding their status if they feel it is relevant and useful to do so, and questions are asked in a way that gives opportunity to do so. All Care2Serve staff have participated in cultural awareness training through Working it Out.

Older LGBTIQ+ people are more likely to be carers or rely on intimate partners and friends to care for them. Based on this and the fact that caring can impact on health and well being, we at Care2Serve strongly believe it is important that the LGBTIQ+ community knows that there are services available to them, and to feel confident to make contact to obtain the support they need.

Care2Serve was a sponsor of Working It Out's 2022 IDAHOBIT Breakfast and Dorothies Awards.
